New Holland DCU 19721 – DCU (Dosing Control Unit): EEPROM / Checksum failures | EEPROM write error | Internal Control Module EEPROM Error

The module's internal non-volatile memory (EEPROM) has failed a checksum validation or encountered a physical/software error while attempting to write data.

   Check Power Supply and Voltage: Verify the battery voltage and the power supply circuit to the DCU. Look for severe voltage spikes (e.g., supply voltage exceeding 36.7V) or sudden voltage drops.

   Inspect Wiring and Grounds: Check the DCU wiring harness, main power relays, and ground connections for corrosion, moisture, or loose pins that could interrupt power during a memory write cycle.

   Attempt a Code Clear: Use an OEM diagnostic tool (such as CNH Electronic Service Tool or TEXA IDC5) to attempt to clear the fault. If the code returns immediately upon key-on, the internal EEPROM is permanently corrupted or physically damaged.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the machine's battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate DCU

   Locate the Dosing Control Unit (DCU), which is typically integrated into or mounted near the DEF supply module.

   Disconnect wiring harness

   Disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the DCU.

   Remove faulty DCU

   Unbolt and remove the faulty DCU.

   Install replacement DCU

   Install the replacement DCU and reconnect the wiring harness.

   Reconnect battery

   Reconnect the battery.

   Install software

   A new DCU is blank and requires software installation and calibration. You must use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to flash the correct software for the specific machine variant. Note: CNH will not issue programming passwords unless official troubleshooting has been performed and logged via their ASSIST portal.
