This code indicates that the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF / Urea) level in the tank has dropped below the minimum operating threshold, or the DEF tank level sensor is malfunctioning and falsely reporting that the tank is empty.

   Manual Level Verification: Check the DEF tank level manually. Compare the actual physical fluid level to what the DEF gauge/sensor is reporting on the instrument cluster. If the tank has fluid but reads empty, the sensor is likely at fault.

   Fluid Quality Test: Inspect the DEF fluid quality. Poor-quality, diluted, or contaminated fluid can mimic a sensor failure. Test the fluid to ensure it has the proper urea concentration (32.5%).

   Visual Wiring Inspection: Examine the DEF head unit sensor wiring and electrical connectors. Look for signs of corrosion, pin damage, or open circuits that could interrupt the signal to the DCU.

   If the tank is full but the code persists and the gauge reads empty, the DEF head unit has failed. Power down the machine and disconnect the battery.

   Locate the DEF head unit on the DEF tank. Disconnect the main electrical connector that interfaces with the machine's wiring harness.
