New Holland EHR 4135 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.3 - Spool Deflection Excessive
Issue description
An internal fault within the #3 electro-hydraulic remote valve section where the system's position transducer (LVDT) detects that the internal spool has traveled (deflected) further than the commanded or physically expected limit. This is most commonly caused by a mechanical failure or binding inside the valve, or a failure of the position transducer itself.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- T8.xxx Series
- T7 Series
- T6 Series
- MXM Series
- TM Series
- Magnum (e.g., 235–340 Series 4)
- Maxxum
- Puma Series
Check the cause
Attempt to run the remote valve calibration procedure via the tractor's monitor or service tool to see if the valve fails to find its center or limits
Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the #3 rear remote valve for corrosion, pushed pins, or damage, and verify it is receiving the 8V reference supply voltage
Check for hydraulic oil contamination, which can cause the spool to stick or bind
Perform a swap test by swapping the electrical connections between Remote #2 and Remote #3 to see if the code follows the wiring or stays with the physical valve section
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Turn off the tractor and cycle the remote levers/buttons to relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the electrical connector from the #3 remote valve section.
Remove the Valve Section
Unbolt the tie-rods holding the remote valve stack together. Carefully slide the #3 valve section out (the "slice"), taking care not to lose or damage the O-rings between the sections.
Replace the Valve
Because the internal spool and position transducer are generally not serviceable separately on these electro-hydraulic valves, the standard repair is to replace the entire #3 valve section.
Reassemble
Install the new valve section with new O-rings. Torque the stack tie-rods to the OEM specification.
Calibrate
Reconnect the wiring harness, start the tractor, check for leaks, and perform the EHR / Remote Valve calibration procedure so the controller can learn the new valve's limits.
