New Holland EHR 4136 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.3 - Open Center Position Not Reached

The position transducer (sensor) on the third rear hydraulic remote valve is detecting that the valve's internal spool is failing to return to or reach its open center (neutral) position.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the rear remote #3 valve for corrosion, short circuits, or open circuits.

   Attempt to recalibrate the electro-hydraulic control valves using the tractor's in-cab display.

   Check if the spool is mechanically stuck due to hydraulic contamination, debris, or scoring, which would physically prevent it from returning to neutral.

   Determine if the issue is a faulty position transducer (sensor) giving a false reading.

   Relieve Pressure

   Safely park the tractor on level ground, turn off the engine, and actuate the remote levers/switches to relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system.

   Inspect and Repair Wiring

   Disconnect the electrical harness from rear remote #3. Clean the contacts. If the wiring harness is damaged, replace it (e.g., with EHR Control Valve Wire Harness).

   Recalibrate

   Turn the tractor on and enter the calibration menu on the display. Run the calibration routine for Remote #3.

   Remove the Valve

   If calibration fails or the code immediately returns, the valve slice itself must be serviced. Unbolt the rear remote #3 valve slice from the hydraulic stack.

   Inspect the Spool and Sensor

   Check the spool for physical binding. If the spool is heavily scored or the internal position transducer has failed, the standard industry repair is to replace the remote valve slice.

   Reinstall and Calibrate

   Install the new remote valve, replace the hydraulic filters if contamination is suspected, and top off the hydraulic fluid. Perform the EHR valve calibration procedure via the tractor's display to sync the new valve with the EHR module.
