New Holland EHR 4137 – EHR (Electronic Hitch / Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Control Module: Rear Remote No.3 - Manual Operation

Triggered when the control system detects that the hydraulic spool for the 3rd rear remote valve is moving, or has moved, without an active electronic command from the cab controls. This typically occurs if the operator uses the manual override lever, if the spool is physically sticking or drifting off-center, or if the position transducer is failing.

   Verify whether the manual override lever on the #3 rear remote was intentionally used by the operator. If so, this is a normal informational alert.

   Inspect the manual override linkage on the #3 remote valve for packed dirt, debris, or rust that might prevent the lever and spool from returning fully to the neutral position.

   Check the position transducer (potentiometer) on the #3 remote valve. Ensure the electrical connector is seated tightly and the wiring harness is free of chafing, corrosion, or shorts.

   Attempt to run a hydraulic remote valve calibration via the tractor's instrument cluster or service tool. Failing calibration points to a hard fault in the actuator or a physically stuck spool.

   Relieve Pressure

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and cycle the remote levers/switches in the cab to relieve all hydraulic pressure.

   Clean the Valve Block

   Thoroughly clean the exterior of the rear remote valve stack to prevent system contamination during inspection.

   Free the Linkage

   Disconnect the manual override linkage for Remote No. 3. Clean and lubricate the pivot points. Manually actuate the spool to feel for internal binding. If the spool springs back to neutral smoothly, reconnect the linkage.

   Test/Replace the Actuator/Transducer

   If the spool moves freely but the code persists, the electronic actuator head or position transducer is likely faulty. Remove the actuator cap from the #3 valve slice and replace the position transducer.

   Valve Section Replacement (If Sticking)

   If the spool itself is physically binding inside the valve body and cannot be freed, the #3 remote valve section must be removed. Unbolt the tie-rods holding the valve stack together, remove the faulty slice, and install a new valve section. Torque the tie-rods to OEM specifications.

   Recalibrate

   After any mechanical repair or sensor replacement, turn the key on and use the tractor's display monitor or diagnostic service tool to perform the EHR Remote Valve Calibration procedure.
