New Holland EHR 4139 – EHR (Electronic Hitch / Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear Remote No.3 - Position Transducer Faulty
Issue description
The position sensor (transducer) that monitors the physical movement of the spool inside the #3 rear remote hydraulic valve is sending an erratic, out-of-range, or missing signal. The system cannot verify if the valve spool is in the neutral, extend, or retract position.

- New Holland T9 Series
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the #3 rear remote valve block at the back of the tractor for pinched wires, corrosion, or pushed-out pins.
Check the sensor supply voltage (typically 5V reference) and ground at the transducer connector.
Test the signal wire from the #3 remote valve transducer back to the EHR controller for open circuits or shorts to ground/power.
Temporarily swap the electrical connector from the #3 remote valve to the #2 or #4 remote valve. If the fault code changes to the new valve number (e.g., EHR 4140/4144), the transducer on valve #3 is internally failed. If the code remains EHR 4139, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the EHR controller.
Repair steps
Relieve hydraulic pressure
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and cycle the remote levers/buttons to relieve all hydraulic pressure.
Locate valve assembly
Locate the #3 rear remote valve assembly at the rear hydraulic stack.
Disconnect harness
Disconnect the electrical harness from the position transducer/actuator head on the #3 valve.
Remove transducer/actuator
Remove the retaining screws holding the transducer/actuator assembly to the valve body. (Note: Be prepared for minor hydraulic oil seepage; have a catch pan ready).
Install new transducer/actuator
Install the new position transducer or actuator head, ensuring the mechanical linkage/pin aligns correctly with the valve spool.
Reconnect harness
Reconnect the wiring harness.
Perform Spool Travel Calibration
You must perform a Spool Travel Calibration via the tractor's display monitor (IntelliView/Pro700) or a dealer diagnostic tool. The EHR controller must 'learn' the new sensor's exact neutral, full-extend, and full-retract voltage values. Failure to calibrate will result in further fault codes.

(2)EHR Remote Valve Position Transducer / Spool Potentiometer / Remote Valve Actuator Head
On many modern New Holland/Case IH tractors, the position transducer is not sold as a standalone sensor; it is integrated into the electronic actuator head (stepper motor/driver assembly) that bolts to the top of the valve section.
