EHR 4141

New Holland EHR 4141 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) Control Module: Rear Remote No.3 - Spool Not in Neutral When Switched On

Issue description

Triggered as a safety interlock. When the tractor is keyed on, the system checks the position of the hydraulic spool valves. If the position transducer (sensor) on the 3rd rear remote valve detects that the spool is not in the exact center (neutral) position during startup, the system disables the valve and logs this code to prevent unintended hydraulic movement. This can be caused by a physically stuck spool, a faulty position transducer, a wiring issue, or an operator holding the control lever during startup.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T-Series (T6, T7, T8, T9)
  • New Holland MXM, TM, TG, and TVT series

Check the cause

  1. Operator Check: Ensure the in-cab lever, paddle, or joystick for Remote #3 is physically centered and not obstructed by debris in the cab. Turn the key off, ensure the control is neutral, and turn the key back on to see if the code clears.

  2. Visual Wiring Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the Rear Remote #3 valve block (located at the rear of the tractor) for corrosion, pushed pins, or chafed wires.

  3. Component Swap Test: Swap the electrical connector and/or the position transducer (solenoid head) from Remote #3 with an adjacent known-good remote (like Remote #2 or #4). If the fault code changes to match the new location, the transducer/solenoid is faulty. If the code remains EHR 4141, the issue is either a mechanically stuck spool inside the valve body or a wiring harness fault leading back to the EHR module.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and cycle the remote levers to relieve residual hydraulic pressure.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the exterior of the Rear Remote #3 valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Disconnect Electronics

Unplug the electrical connector from the Remote #3 position transducer/solenoid. Spray the contacts with electrical contact cleaner.

  4. Remove the Transducer/Solenoid

Unbolt and remove the electronic solenoid/transducer cap from the rear of the valve body.

  5. Inspect the Mechanical Spool

Check the exposed mechanical spool for free movement. If the spool is binding or stuck, the valve body has likely ingested debris. The valve must be removed, disassembled, cleaned, and resealed (or replaced entirely if scored). If the spool moves freely and springs back to neutral perfectly, the mechanical side is fine, and the electronic position transducer/solenoid has failed.

  6. Replace the Faulty Component

Install the new position transducer/solenoid or the replacement remote valve assembly. Torque all bolts to OEM specifications.

  7. Reconnect Wiring

Plug the wiring harness back in, ensuring the weather seal is intact.

  8. Calibrate the EHR System

Access the tractor's diagnostic menu (e.g., the H3 menu or TCU ETC menu via the instrument cluster or Pro 700/IntelliView monitor) and perform the 'EHR Remote Valve Calibration' procedure. This teaches the controller the new neutral, extend, and retract voltage values for the sensor.

  9. Test

Clear the stored fault codes, restart the tractor, and verify that Remote #3 operates correctly without throwing EHR 4141.
