New Holland EHR 4142 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Controller / Main Vehicle Controller: Rear Remote No.4 - No EHR Control Messages

CAN bus messages received by the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) system for Valve #4 are corrupted, missing, or communication has been completely lost.

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness connecting the main controller to the rear remote valve stack for physical damage, chafing, or melted wires.

   Inspect the 4-pin electrical connectors at the #4 remote valve for corrosion, moisture, or loose pins.

   Test the CAN bus terminating resistor (120 Ohm) to ensure the network has proper resistance.

   Check the EHR joystick potentiometers and the 3rd/4th valve switches for open or short circuits, which can interrupt proper command signals.

   Verify via the tractor's instrumentation display (e.g., IntelliView) if the valve has simply lost its programmed address or calibration.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect battery power before servicing the CAN electrical system.

   Harness Repair/Replacement

   If the wiring harness or 4-pin connector at Valve #4 is damaged, repair the wiring or replace the EHR Control Valve Wire Harness.

   Valve Replacement

   If the wiring is intact but the valve's internal processor has failed (causing the loss of communication), remove and replace the #4 EHR valve section.

   Address Assignment

   Use the tractor's instrumentation to program the new valve's processor so it recognizes itself as Valve No. 4.

   Valve Calibration

   Initiate the remote valve spool travel calibration via the tractor's display. If calibration fails the first time, stroke the valve manually for a while to clear debris and attempt to calibrate again.
