New Holland EHR 4143 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear Remote No.4 - Implausible EHR Control Messages

A communication error or a mismatch in the expected CAN-bus signal between the operator's controls (joystick/switches) and the electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve section number 4. The system is receiving data that does not make logical sense for the commanded spool position.

   Check the EHR Control Valve Wire Harness at the rear of the tractor for corrosion, moisture, or damaged pins

   Test the EHR 4th valve switch on the armrest for a failing potentiometer or erratic signals

3. 3

   Stroke the valve back and forth manually or via the system to clear potential blockages or debris

   Attempt to recalibrate the EHR valves using the tractor's display monitor

   Clear and Recalibrate

   Enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu on the display. Select the EHR valve calibration procedure. If the calibration fails the first time, stroke the valve back and forth to clear debris, then retry.

   Inspect the Harness

   Disconnect the harness at Rear Remote No. 4. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and verify the CAN high/low voltages and ground.

   Test the Armrest Switch

   If the wiring at the rear is intact, inspect the EHR 3rd & 4th valve switch on the armrest. If the switch is outputting erratic voltage, replace the switch.

   Replace the Valve Section

   If the switch and wiring are good, the internal module/solenoid on the Rear Remote No. 4 valve section has failed. Remove the valve stack tie-bolts, remove the faulty No. 4 section, and install the replacement EHR valve section.

   Reassign and Calibrate

   If a new CAN-based valve is installed, you must assign the correct remote valve address via the tractor's display monitor, followed by a full electro-hydraulic control valve calibration.
