Issue description
This fault code indicates that the electronic controller did not receive the command to switch to the neutral position when power was applied, or the neutral set point is not recognized/calibrated for the 4th rear remote valve. This usually means the valve spool is not resting in the neutral position at key-on, the actuator is failing to find its center, or the system has lost its calibration data.

Check the cause
Physical Spool Check: Stroke the #4 remote valve back and forth manually (or via the paddle if it allows) to clear any internal debris that might be physically preventing the spool from returning to the neutral center position.
Cab Control Check: Ensure the in-cab EHR lever/paddle for remote #4 is physically returning to the neutral detent and isn't stuck or obstructed. A paddle stuck slightly off-center at key-on will trigger this fault.
Swap Test (Isolate the Actuator): Swap the electrical connector from the #4 remote valve actuator (powerhead) with an adjacent known-good valve (like #3 or #1). If the fault code moves to the new valve number, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the EHR module. If the fault stays with the #4 valve, the electronic actuator/powerhead on that specific valve is defective.
Repair steps
Recalibrate the EHR Valves
Connect the special calibration tool (e.g., 380001903) to the quick coupler on the bank of remotes (or use the New Holland EST diagnostic software). Using the tractor's instrumentation display, navigate to the EHR menus and press the DECR key until the 'EHR CAL' screen displays. Initiate the calibration sequence for the remote valves. Note: If calibration fails the first time, stroke the valve back and forth for a while to free up the spool, then attempt to calibrate again.
Actuator / Powerhead Replacement
If the swap test proved the actuator is dead and calibration fails: Disconnect the battery. Unplug the wiring harness from the #4 remote valve actuator. Remove the mounting hardware securing the actuator (powerhead) to the rear of the valve body. Install the new actuator, reconnect the harness, and perform the EHR calibration procedure so the module learns the new actuator's neutral set point.
Valve Spool Rebuild
If the spool is physically seized or leaking from the rear plug: Remove the linkage/lever from the spool and clean the valve. Unscrew the large pipe/plug from the rear of the valve body. Withdraw the valve spool out the back of the valve. Remove the detent sleeve, spring, and use a magnet to extract the detent balls. Clean the hollow actuator tube, replace all O-rings using a rebuild kit, reassemble, and recalibrate.
