New Holland EHR 4147 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Control Module: Rear Remote No.4 - Over Voltage
Issue description
The system is detecting a feedback voltage from the spool position sensor (potentiometer) on the #4 rear remote valve that is higher than the expected normal operating range. This is typically caused by a sensor failure or a wiring harness shorted to a high-voltage source.

Check the cause
Perform a visual wiring inspection by tracing the wiring harness from the #4 rear remote valve back to the EHR controller, looking for pinched, rubbed, or melted wires that could be shorting the sensor signal wire to a 12V power source.
Disconnect the electrical plug at the #4 remote valve and inspect for water intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins, which can bridge connections and cause over-voltage readings.
Perform a component isolation swap test by swapping the electrical connector from the #4 remote valve with an adjacent, known-good remote valve (such as #3). If the fault code changes to the other remote, the electronic head/sensor on the #4 valve is faulty. If the code remains EHR 4147, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the EHR controller.
Attempt to stroke the valve manually or via the cab controls to clear any potential debris, then attempt an EHR valve calibration via the tractor's display monitor.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, relieve all hydraulic pressure, and disconnect the battery to protect the electronic modules.
Access the Valve Stack
Locate the rear remote valve block at the rear of the tractor and identify the #4 valve section.
Harness Repair (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to power in the wiring harness, splice and repair the damaged section using weather-sealed heat shrink connectors.
Valve Replacement (If Applicable)
If the valve's internal potentiometer/actuator is shorted: Disconnect the electrical connector to the #4 EHR valve. Unbolt the faulty EHR valve section from the hydraulic valve stack (prepare for minor hydraulic fluid loss and cap the lines). Install the new EHR valve section (or replacement electronic actuator head, depending on part availability) and torque the stack bolts to OEM specifications.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical harness and the tractor's battery.
Calibration
Turn the key on. The new CAN-based EHR valve must be calibrated prior to use. Access the tractor's display monitor, assign the correct CAN address to the new valve, and initiate the EHR calibration procedure so the system can learn the new spool travel voltage limits.
