EHR 4153

New Holland EHR 4153 – EHR: Rear Remote No.4 - Position Transducer Faulty

Issue description

The position sensor (transducer/potentiometer) monitoring the spool movement for the #4 rear remote valve is sending an incorrect, out-of-range, or missing signal to the controller.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T6 Series
  • New Holland T7 Series
  • New Holland T8 Series
  • New Holland T9 Series
  • New Holland Genesis Series (8670 / G170)

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and 4-pin electrical connectors going to the #4 rear remote valve slice for open circuits, short circuits, or corrosion.

  2. Verify that the transducer is receiving the correct reference voltage from the EHR controller.

  3. Perform a component swap test by swapping the transducer/solenoid connection with an adjacent remote valve (e.g., Remote No.3 or No.5). If the fault code changes to the new remote number, the transducer is faulty. If the code remains EHR 4153, the issue is in the wiring harness or the armrest switch.

  4. Attempt to run the EHR calibration procedure through the tractor's A-post display or IntelliView monitor, as the controller may have simply lost the calibration limits of the spool.

Repair steps

  1. Lower hydraulic links and relieve pressure

Lower the hydraulic links and relieve all hydraulic pressure.

  2. Disconnect implements

Disconnect all implements from the rear remotes.

  3. Disconnect harness

Disconnect the harness from the remote valve solenoids and the position transducer.

  4. Replace faulty component

Remove and replace the faulty position transducer on the #4 valve slice (or replace the armrest SCV switch if the diagnostic tests pointed to the cab control).

  5. Prepare for calibration

Park the tractor away from obstacles, apply the parking brake, and block the wheels.

  6. Ensure switches are OFF

Ensure all EHR program switches in the cab are in the OFF position.

  7. Install diagnostic tool

Install the diagnostic connector tool (e.g., CNH part #380000843) into the diagnostic socket.

  8. Navigate to calibration menu

Use the instrument cluster keys ("h", "m", and "dimming") to navigate the "HH" menu to "H1" and select the rear EHR symbol.

  9. Verify CAL display

The lower central display will show "CAL".

  10. Initiate calibration

Depress the program switch for the specific lever to initiate calibration.

  11. Wait for successful calibration

The display will indicate when the valve calibration is successful (often displaying "END").

  12. Store programming

Turn the key switch OFF to store the programming.
