EHR 4167

New Holland EHR 4167 – EHR: Rear Remote No.5 - Position Transducer Faulty

Issue description

This code indicates that the position sensor (transducer) on the 5th rear remote hydraulic valve is defective, sending an implausible signal, or has suffered a circuit failure (open or short). The system cannot accurately determine the position of the spool valve for the 5th remote.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T8 Series
  • New Holland T9 Series
  • New Holland T7 Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the Rear Remote No.5 valve for corrosion, bent pins, moisture ingress, or physical damage.

  2. Check for continuity, open circuits, or short circuits to ground/power in the wiring harness between the EHR controller and the remote valve transducer.

  3. Verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage (typically 5V) and has a solid ground from the EHR module.

  4. Swap the position transducer from Remote No.5 with a known good transducer from an adjacent valve (such as Remote No.4). If the fault code changes to the corresponding code for the new location (e.g., EHR 4153), the transducer is confirmed faulty. If the code remains EHR 4167, the issue is in the wiring harness or the EHR controller itself.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the remote levers/buttons to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Locate the Valve

Locate the rear remote valve stack at the back of the tractor and identify valve slice No.5.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector from the position transducer on the back/top of the valve slice.

  4. Remove

Remove the retaining screws or bolts securing the transducer cap/housing to the remote valve body. Carefully pull the faulty transducer out.

  5. Install

Insert the new position transducer, ensuring any O-rings or seals are properly seated to prevent hydraulic leaks. Tighten the retaining hardware to OEM torque specifications.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor.

  7. Calibrate

Power on the tractor. You will likely need to perform a remote valve calibration procedure via the tractor's in-cab display monitor or an electronic service tool so the EHR module can learn the new sensor's neutral, extend, and retract voltage limits.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Electrohydraulic Remote Valve Position Transducer / Spool Position Sensor

Specific CNH part numbers vary heavily based on the exact tractor model, year, and whether the valve is a mid-mount or rear-mount configuration. Reference the CNH parts catalog using the machine's specific PIN/Serial Number.
