New Holland EHR 4190 – Armrest Control Unit (ARU) or Central Control Unit (CCU) / Tractor Control Unit (TCU): EHR 1 Offline Err

The tractor's main control system has lost CAN bus communication with the #1 rear remote valve module. The controller is sending commands to the valve over the network, but the valve is not responding or acknowledging the data.

   Check for multiple active codes (e.g., EHR 4191, 4192) which indicate a shared power supply failure, blown fuse, or severed main CAN bus line rather than a single valve failure

   Inspect the #1 remote valve electrical connector at the rear hydraulic stack for moisture, corrosion, or pushed-back pins

   Verify the EHR 1 connector is receiving steady 12V power and has a clean ground with the key in the ON position

   Test the CAN High and CAN Low wires for continuity between the EHR 1 valve connector and the main CCU/Armrest harness

   Check the EHR 1 manual override or armrest switch to ensure it isn't physically damaged or shorting out the circuit

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery.

   Relieve Pressure

   Relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system by cycling the manual override levers on the remote valves. Clean the rear hydraulic stack thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect

   Disconnect the electrical connector and the hydraulic lines routed to the #1 EHR valve.

   Removal

   Unbolt the tie-rods/mounting bolts holding the hydraulic stack together. Carefully slide out the faulty EHR 1 valve section.

   Installation

   Insert the replacement EHR valve into the stack. Ensure all O-rings between the valve slices are seated correctly. Torque the stack tie-bolts to the exact OEM specification for your model to prevent spool binding or leaks.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical connector. Reconnect the battery.

   Calibration

   A new EHR valve will not function out of the box. You must perform the 'Rear Remote Valve Calibration' procedure. This is done either through the tractor's IntelliView display (if accessible via the service menu) or by using the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (CNH EST) laptop software.
