New Holland EHR 4216 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear Remote No.1 - Valve Spool Not Calibrated
Issue description
This fault code indicates that the spool valve for the #1 rear electro-hydraulic remote has lost its calibration values or has never been calibrated. This commonly occurs after a software update, an ECU replacement, or if the physical remote valve has been replaced.
Applies to these machines

- Steiger series
Check the cause
Check for Accompanying Codes: Look for other EHR codes (such as 4106 'Spool movement too low', 4118 'Under voltage', or 4111 'Potentiometer Faulty'). Fix hardware or voltage faults first.
Warm the Hydraulic Oil: Ensure the hydraulic oil is at operating temperature. Cold oil (below 5°C) can cause the spool to stick or move too slowly, causing calibration to fail.
Clear Debris: Stroke the #1 remote valve back and forth several times to clear any debris from the spool and purge air before attempting calibration.
Disconnect Implements: Never attempt to calibrate a remote valve with an implement attached.
Repair steps
Park the tractor on level ground away from obstacles, firmly apply the parking brake, and block the wheels.
Ensure the ground speed display reads zero.
Disconnect all hydraulic hoses and implements from the rear remotes.
Ensure all EHR program switches/levers in the cab are in the OFF/Neutral position.
Install the diagnostic connector/special tool into the tractor's diagnostic socket.
Use OEM tool #380001903 or #380000843.
Navigate the HH menu to H1 and select the rear EHR symbol on the controller.
Use the instrument cluster keys (typically the 'h', 'm', and 'dimming' keys).
Verify the lower central display shows 'CAL'.
Depress the program switch for lever No.1 three times to initiate the calibration sequence.
The tractor will automatically stroke the valve to learn the extend, retract, and neutral deadbands.
If the calibration fails the first time, stroke the valve manually back and forth for a few minutes to warm the oil further, then reattempt the calibration.
