New Holland EHR 4302 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear Remote No.6 - Implausible EHR Control Messages
Issue description
This code indicates a CAN bus communication error where the electronic control system is receiving invalid, erratic, or conflicting data messages regarding the #6 rear remote valve. This typically means there is a signal plausibility issue between the operator's armrest controls (joystick/levers) and the valve's internal controller, or the valve is failing to report its position correctly over the network.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- T8.xxx Series
- T9 Series
- T6 Series (T6.120 - T6.180)
- T7 Series (T7.170 - T7.210)
- TSA Plus/Deluxe Series
- Magnum 235-340 (Series 4)
- Steiger equivalents
Check the cause
Verify tractor battery voltage and ground connections, as low voltage or spikes can cause CAN communication errors.
Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector directly at the #6 rear remote valve slice for moisture, corrosion, bent pins, or chafed wires.
Perform a component isolation (swap test) by swapping the electrical connector from the #6 remote valve to an adjacent remote (e.g., #5) to determine if the fault follows the valve or stays with the wiring/controller.
Check if the EHR lever/joystick has lost its calibration, which can cause the controller to read the lever's position as implausible.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to safely reset the electronic control systems.
Clean Connections
Disconnect the harness at the #6 rear remote valve. Clean the contacts with electronic contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease to prevent moisture intrusion. Reconnect the harness securely.
Re-calibrate the Valve
Reconnect the battery and turn the key on. Access the tractor's display monitor and navigate to the Electro-Hydraulic Control Valve configuration menu.
Stroke the Valve
Initiate the calibration process for the #6 remote. Stroke the valves back and forth manually to clear internal debris before calibration. Follow the on-screen prompts to allow the system to learn the valve's neutral and end-stop positions.
Replace Components
If the valve fails to calibrate or the code immediately returns, replace the faulty EHR valve section or the EHR control switch/potentiometer on the armrest (depending on the results of your swap test).
Clear Codes
Use the tractor's diagnostic menu or a specialized dealer diagnostic tool to clear the EHR 4302 code and verify normal operation.
