New Holland EHR 4303 – EHR (Electronic Hitch / Hydraulic Remote) Control Module: Rear Remote No.6 - Checksum Verification Failure
Issue description
The internal memory (EEPROM) within the electronic control head of the #6 rear remote hydraulic valve has failed a checksum verification. The module is unable to read or verify its stored calibration, configuration, or identity data, meaning the data is corrupted or the internal memory chip has physically failed.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- T8.xxx Series
- T8.390
- T8.410
- T6 Series
- T7 Series
- T9 Series
Check the cause
Cycle the tractor's key power to see if the EEPROM error is a transient initialization glitch.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the #6 rear remote valve for moisture, corrosion, or damaged pins that could be causing data corruption on the CAN network.
Manually stroke the valve back and forth (if possible) to clear any debris and ensure the spool is not mechanically stuck.
Use the tractor's display monitor to attempt a valve calibration. If calibration fails the first time, stroke the valve back and forth and try again.
Check the display to ensure the correct CAN address is assigned to the valve. Sometimes a renumbering error can cause communication faults.
Repair steps
Depressurize
Turn off the tractor, lower all implements, and relieve hydraulic pressure from the system. Disconnect the battery.
Disconnect
Locate the #6 rear remote valve at the rear hydraulic stack. Disconnect the CAN/power electrical harness from the valve's electronic control head.
Remove Valve
Remove the tie-bolts securing the #6 valve section to the hydraulic stack. Carefully separate the valve, ensuring no dirt or debris enters the hydraulic system.
Install Replacement
Install the new EHR valve section using new O-rings between the valve slices. Torque the tie-bolts to OEM specifications.
Reconnect
Reconnect the electrical harness to the new valve.
Address Reassignment (Renumbering)
Power on the tractor. You must perform the 'Remote valve address reassignment' procedure via the tractor's display so the EHR controller recognizes the new valve as Remote No. 6.
Calibration
Once addressed, perform the electro-hydraulic control valve calibration procedure using the display monitor to learn the new valve's spool travel limits.
