New Holland EHR 4304 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) controller: Rear Remote No.6 -Neutral Set point
Issue description
The spool for the 6th rear electro-hydraulic remote valve is not reaching, or the system cannot recognize, its neutral (center) set point. This can be caused by mechanical binding in the spool, a faulty position sensor/potentiometer, or a calibration loss.

Check the cause
Inspect the EHR 6th remote valve switch/lever (potentiometer) on the armrest to ensure it physically returns to the center/neutral position without binding.
Check the spool valve for mechanical binding or debris by stroking the valve back and forth to clear any internal obstructions.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the 6th rear remote valve solenoids and position sensors for corrosion, backed-out pins, or wire chafing.
Check for accompanying EHR codes (such as 4305 Under Voltage, 4306 Over Voltage, or 4307 Spool Deflection Too Short) which might point to a broader electrical issue rather than a mechanical spool failure.
Repair steps
Clear Codes
Clear the active error codes and test the system for normal operation.
Warm Up
Ensure the hydraulic oil is at normal operating temperature (cold oil below 5°C can cause sluggish spool movement and throw transition codes).
Prepare for Calibration
Park the tractor away from obstacles, apply the parking brake, block the wheels, and disconnect all implements from the rear remotes. Ensure all EHR program switches are in the OFF position.
Enter Calibration Mode
Via Instrument Cluster (e.g., T6000 series): Use the 'h', 'm', and 'dimming' keys on the instrument cluster to navigate the menu to 'H1' and select the rear EHR symbol. The lower display will show 'CAL'. Depress the program switch for the corresponding lever to initiate. Via IntelliView Display (e.g., T8/T9 series): Navigate to the Operations Screen, select 'EHR Remotes', select the specific rear valve, and follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the valve.
Test
If the calibration fails the first time, stroke the valve back and forth for a while to free it up, then attempt to calibrate again.
Replace
If the valve repeatedly fails calibration or the neutral set point cannot be learned, the EHR valve slice or the armrest switch must be replaced.
