New Holland EHR 4311 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.6 - Output Stage Faulty

Electrical failure in the output circuit that drives the solenoid for the 6th rear remote valve. The controller has detected an abnormal condition—typically an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to power—preventing the module from properly actuating the valve spool.

   Inspect the wiring harness routing from the EHR controller to the Rear Remote No.6 valve for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or heat damage.

   Disconnect the electrical plug at the No.6 remote valve and check for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-out pins.

   Measure the resistance across the pins of the No.6 valve solenoid using a multimeter (infinite reading indicates an internal open circuit, near zero indicates a dead short).

   Perform a swap test by swapping the electrical connector from Rear Remote No.6 with an adjacent remote valve (e.g., No.5). If the fault code changes to the adjacent valve, the solenoid/valve slice is internally faulty. If it remains EHR 4311, the issue is in the wiring harness or EHR controller output pin.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, and turn off the engine. Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Relieve Pressure

   Relieve all hydraulic pressure from the rear remote system by cycling the remote levers/buttons with the key on (engine off), then turn the key off.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack with brake cleaner or a pressure washer to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

   Disconnection

   Disconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical connector from the No.6 remote valve slice.

   Valve Removal

   Remove the tie-rod nuts that hold the remote valve stack together. Carefully slide the faulty No.6 valve slice out of the stack.

   Installation

   Install the new electronic valve slice. Ensure all mating surfaces are perfectly clean and install new O-rings between the valve slices to prevent internal/external leaks.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall the tie-rods and torque them to the OEM specification. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical connector.

   Calibration

   Reconnect the battery and power on the tractor. You must calibrate the new valve spool using the tractor's in-cab display (IntelliView) or the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST). The system needs to learn the neutral, extend, and retract deadbands of the new spool.

   Testing

   Start the tractor, actuate the No.6 remote, and check for proper hydraulic flow and absence of leaks.
