New Holland EHR 4313 – EHR (Electronic Hitch / Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear Remote No.6 - Spool Cannot be Brought Back to Neutral

The electronic controller has detected that the hydraulic spool valve for the 6th rear remote circuit is physically stuck or failing to return to its center (neutral) position when the command is removed. This is most commonly a mechanical binding issue caused by hydraulic fluid contamination, a lack of maintenance, or the ignition being switched off while the EHR valve was actively operating.

   Check the hydraulic fluid condition and maintenance records, as dirty fluid is a leading cause of sticking spools

   Determine if the tractor's ignition was switched off while the remote valve was in operation, which can temporarily strand the spool

   Clear the error code using a diagnostic tool and test the system for normal operation to rule out a temporary glitch or passed debris

   Inspect the external linkages and electrical solenoid connections on Rear Remote No. 6 for visible damage or loose connectors

   Relieve Pressure

   Ensure the tractor is turned off and completely relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before attempting to disconnect any lines or quick couplers. Escaping pressurized fluid can cause severe injury.

   Locate the Valve

   Identify the Rear Remote No. 6 valve assembly at the rear hydraulic block of the tractor.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Unplug the wiring harness connected to the No. 6 remote valve solenoid.

   Disassemble the Valve

   Remove the retaining spring (Part # 93329C2) and carefully extract the auxiliary coupler cartridge/spool from the valve body.

   Inspect for Damage

   Inspect the spool and the internal valve bore for scoring, metal shavings, or debris.

   Clean or Replace

   If the spool is simply dirty but not damaged, thoroughly clean the spool and bore with an approved solvent, lubricate with clean hydraulic oil, and reassemble. If the spool or the valve body is scored, stuck tight, or physically damaged, the cartridge or the entire remote valve assembly must be replaced.

   Reassembly

   Install the new or cleaned cartridge, secure the retaining spring, and reconnect the electrical harness.

   Calibration and Testing

   Turn the tractor on, clear the EHR 4313 fault code, and cycle the No. 6 remote to ensure the spool returns to neutral smoothly. Perform a hydraulic remote calibration via the tractor's display if required by the service manual.
