New Holland EHR 4327 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Control Module: Rear Remote No.7 - Spool Cannot be Brought Back to Neutral
Issue description
The system has commanded the hydraulic spool valve for the 7th rear remote to return to its center (neutral) position, but the feedback sensor indicates it has not reached it. This is typically caused by mechanical binding of the spool, a broken centering spring, debris inside the valve body, or a failure of the spool position transducer/actuator.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- New Holland T7 Series (T7.170, T7040)
- New Holland T8 Series (T8.275, T8.360, T8.390, T8.410)
- New Holland T9 Series (T9.390, T9.670)
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connector at Rear Remote Valve No. 7 for corrosion, pushed pins, or physical damage.
Attempt to recalibrate the remote valves using the tractor's IntelliView / Pro700 display to fix a potentially lost calibration.
Swap the electrical connector of Remote No. 7 with an adjacent, known-good remote (like No. 6). If the fault code changes to the new valve number, the issue is in the wiring or EHR controller. If it remains, the valve is mechanically jammed or failed.
Verify the hydraulic pressure on the spools to ensure the compensator valve or main hydraulic pump isn't causing sluggish performance or sticking.
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Turn off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic system pressure by cycling the remote levers/joystick.
Access the Valve Stack
Access the rear remote valve block. On some models (like the T7/T8), this may require removing the right rear wheel or rear shielding for adequate clearance.
Disconnect Electronics
Unplug the electrical harness connector from the No. 7 remote valve section.
Remove the Valve
Remove the retaining bolts holding the No. 7 valve section or cartridge to the hydraulic manifold block.
Install Replacement
Install the new EHR remote valve assembly or cartridge. Ensure all O-rings are properly seated to prevent leaks.
Reassembly
Torque the retaining bolts to the OEM specification and reconnect the electrical harness.
Mandatory Calibration
Power on the tractor and navigate to the EHR calibration menu on the display. You must perform a spool travel calibration for the new valve so the EHR controller can learn its specific neutral, extend, and retract limits.
