EHR 4330

New Holland EHR 4330 – EHR: Rear Remote No.8 - Position Transducer Faulty

Issue description

The internal position sensor (transducer) on the 8th electro-hydraulic remote valve is sending an implausible signal or has failed. This can be caused by an electrical failure within the transducer itself, a communication error on the CAN bus, or a mechanically stuck valve spool that prevents the transducer from reading the expected physical position.

Applies to these machines

  • T8 Series
  • T9 Series
  • T9.390
  • T9.450
  • T9.505
  • T9.560
  • T9.615
  • T9.670
  • T7000 Series
  • T7030
  • T7040
  • T7050
  • T7060
  • T6000 Series

Check the cause

  1. Manually stroke the valve back and forth using the cab controls to attempt to dislodge any debris causing the spool to stick.

  2. Verify that the tie bolts holding the valve sections together were not over-torqued, which can cause the internal spool to bind.

  3. Check the electrical connector at the Rear Remote No. 8 valve head for corrosion, moisture, or pushed pins that could cause implausible CAN messages.

  4. Use the tractor's display monitor to run the EHR valve calibration procedure. If the calibration fails the first time, stroke the valve back and forth again and retry.

  5. Check the maintenance schedule to ensure the hydraulic fluid and filters are not overdue for a change, as dirty fluid is a primary cause of sticking spools.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize

Turn off the engine and relieve all hydraulic system pressure.

  2. Disconnect

Unplug the CAN/electrical harness from the Rear Remote No. 8 valve section.

  3. Remove Faulty Component

Unbolt the tie rods/bolts securing the valve stack and carefully remove the No. 8 EHR valve slice (or unbolt the electronic actuator head if serviced separately).

  4. Install Replacement

Insert the new valve section. Torque the valve stack tie bolts strictly to the OEM specification found in the service manual. Over-torquing will warp the housing and cause the new spool to stick.

  5. Address the Valve

Use the tractor's display or the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to program the new valve's address so the system recognizes it as 'Valve No. 8'.

  6. Calibrate

Perform the automated EHR valve calibration procedure via the tractor's display monitor.

  7. Test

Clear the EHR 4330 fault code and test the remote for normal operation.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • EHR Valve Actuator Head / Electro-Hydraulic Remote Valve Section (Slice)

The replacement part will arrive 'blank' (unaddressed). It will not function correctly until it is electronically assigned as Remote No. 8 and calibrated to the tractor.
