EHR 4335

New Holland EHR 4335 – EHR (Electronic Hitch Record / Electronic Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear Remote No.8 - Spool Deflection Too Short

Issue description

This code indicates that the internal spool of the electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve #8 did not move as far as the controller commanded. This is typically an internal mechanical fault within the valve, such as a stuck spool due to debris/contamination, or mechanical binding.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T8 Series (T8.275 through T8.435)
  • New Holland T9 Series (T9.390 through T9.670)
  • New Holland MXM / TM Series

Check the cause

  1. Check hydraulic fluid and filters for contamination, which is a primary cause of sticking valve spools

  2. Check tie bolt torque on the remote stack if recently serviced (over-torqued bolts can compress the housing and cause mechanical binding)

  3. Attempt to clear internal debris by stroking the valves back and forth manually or via the cab controls

  4. Clear the error code from the display and retest the system for normal operation to see if the fault was a momentary mechanical bind

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Shut down the tractor and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the remote valves.

  2. Inspect and Re-torque

If the valve stack was recently worked on, loosen the tie bolts holding the remote valve stack together and re-torque them to the exact OEM specification to ensure the spool isn't being pinched.

  3. Flush the Valve

Stroke the valve back and forth repeatedly to flush out potential contamination.

  4. Recalibrate the Valve

Using the tractor's display monitor, navigate to the EHR calibration menu and initiate the calibration process for Rear Remote No. 8. The system will attempt to learn the full stroke of the spool.

  5. Replace the Valve Section

If the spool remains stuck or the calibration fails repeatedly because the spool cannot reach its commanded position, the internal mechanical fault cannot be serviced. The specific remote valve section (Valve #8) must be replaced.

  6. Program the New Valve

Each EHR valve has its own built-in processor. If replaced, the new valve assembly must be programmed/configured via the tractor's display so it is assigned the correct address (Valve No. 8) within the remote stack.
