EHR 4339

New Holland EHR 4339 – EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear Remote No.8 - Output Stage Faulty

Issue description

This indicates an electrical failure or malfunction in the output stage circuit that drives the 8th rear electro-hydraulic remote valve. The system has detected that the electrical signal or voltage required to actuate the spool in Remote No. 8 is either missing, shorted, or out of the expected range, preventing the valve from functioning.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T8 Series (T8.xxx)
  • New Holland T9 Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the rear remote valve stack (specifically the No. 8 valve) for physical damage, corrosion, or loose pins.

  2. Perform a swap test by swapping the electrical connector from Remote No. 8 with the connector from an adjacent, known-good remote (such as No. 7 or No. 1). If the fault code changes to match the new valve position, the issue is internal to the valve's solenoid/powerhead. If the fault remains EHR 4339, the issue lies in the tractor's wiring harness or the EHR controller.

  3. Attempt to run a lever/valve calibration via the tractor's in-cab display to see if the valve responds or immediately kicks out of the calibration procedure.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize and Power Down

Ensure the tractor is turned off, battery power is disconnected, and all hydraulic pressure in the remote stack is relieved.

  2. Remove the Faulty Component

Disconnect the electrical harness from Remote Valve No. 8. Unbolt and remove the faulty electro-hydraulic remote valve section or powerhead from the rear valve stack.

  3. Install the New Valve

Install the replacement valve section/solenoid and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness.

  4. Program the Valve Number

Each electro-hydraulic remote valve has its own built-in processor. Replacement valves are supplied 'blank' (with no number assigned). You must use the tractor's display monitor or the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to program the new valve's memory so it identifies itself as Valve No. 8 within the remote stack.

  5. Calibrate

Once programmed, perform a full electro-hydraulic remote valve calibration using the tractor's display to ensure the spool travel and neutral set points are correctly learned by the EHR controller.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Valve Assembly / Remote Valve Solenoid / Powerhead

Verify fitment with a VIN. Ensure the replacement valve is specifically designed for the EHR system (electro-hydraulic engagement) rather than a mechanical remote. The new valve will require software programming upon installation.
