EHR 4345

New Holland EHR 4345 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.7 - Lever Not Calibrated

Issue description

The electronic management system lacks the correct positional calibration values (extend, retract, and neutral) for the 7th electro-hydraulic remote control lever located in the tractor's armrest.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T8.xxx Series
  • New Holland T9 Series
  • New Holland T7 Series

Check the cause

  1. Ensure the tractor is parked safely away from obstacles, the parking brake is firmly applied, and the wheels are blocked.

  2. Verify that the ground speed display reads exactly zero.

  3. Disconnect all implements and hydraulic hoses from the rear remote valves.

  4. Ensure all EHR program switches are in the 'OFF' position.

  5. Verify that the EHR valve address assignment is correct. The system must know which valve is No.7 before the lever can be calibrated to it.

  6. Inspect the physical lever in the armrest. If the lever feels excessively loose or fails to spring back to neutral, the internal potentiometer/switch has likely failed mechanically.

Repair steps

  1. Install diagnostic connector tool

Install the diagnostic connector tool (e.g., CNH tool 380000843 or 380000488, depending on the model) into the diagnostic socket if required by your specific series.

  2. Turn key switch ON

Turn the key switch to the ON position.

  3. Navigate to calibration menu

Using the instrument cluster keys (often the 'h', 'm', and 'dimming' keys) or the A-post/IntelliView monitor, navigate to the 'HH' menu, mode 'H1' (or 'HL'), until the rear EHR symbol is displayed. The lower central display should show 'CAL'.

  4. Activate calibration procedure

Depress the program switch for Lever No.7 three times in quick succession to activate the procedure.

  5. Calibrate lever positions

The system will walk you through taking the lever to its full extend, retract, and neutral positions.

  6. Clear debris if calibration fails

If the calibration fails the first time, stroke the valve back and forth a few times to clear any potential debris in the valve block, then attempt the calibration again.

  7. Replace lever assembly

If the lever refuses to calibrate or the fault code returns immediately during operation, the lever's internal potentiometer is defective and the switch assembly must be replaced.
