EHR 4346

New Holland EHR 4346 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Controller or ARM (Armrest) Controller: Rear Remote No.8 - Lever Not Calibrated

Issue description

The electronic controller does not have the stored calibration values (minimum, maximum, and neutral positions) for the 8th rear electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) control lever located in the cab. Without these values, the controller cannot accurately translate the operator's lever movements into hydraulic valve commands.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T6 series
  • New Holland T7 series
  • New Holland T8 series
  • New Holland T8.390
  • New Holland T9 series
  • New Holland T9.670

Check the cause

  1. Check for Memory Loss Codes: Verify if there are other active codes, such as ARM 9013 (Controller Memory Error - Loss of Aux Remote Lever Calibrations). If present, the controller may be losing its memory due to a software bug, low battery voltage, or a failing module.

  2. Inspect the Lever: Check the physical condition of the No. 8 remote lever in the armrest. Ensure it moves freely through its full range of motion without physical obstruction or sticking.

  3. Check Wiring: Inspect the wiring harness and connectors beneath the armrest leading to the remote lever for loose pins or damaged wires.

  4. Prepare for Calibration: Ensure the tractor is parked safely away from obstacles, the parking brake is applied, and all implements are disconnected from the rear remotes.

Repair steps

  1. Start the engine and warm up hydraulic oil.

Start the engine and ensure the hydraulic oil is up to operating temperature.

  2. Ensure switches are OFF and speed is zero.

Ensure all EHR program switches are in the OFF position and the ground speed display reads zero.

  3. Enter diagnostic mode.

Enter the tractor's diagnostic mode. Depending on the model, this may require installing a diagnostic plug (e.g., Tool 380000843) into the diagnostic socket, or pressing a specific button combination on the instrument cluster.

  4. Navigate to EHR calibration menu.

Use the instrument cluster keys to navigate to the 'H' diagnostic menus (specifically the EHR calibration menu, often H1 or the specific remote valve menu).

  5. Select Remote No. 8.

Select the rear EHR symbol for Remote No. 8. The lower central display should show 'CAL'.

  6. Move the No. 8 remote lever through its complete range of motion.

Move the No. 8 remote lever through its complete range of motion: push it fully forward (extend), pull it fully rearward (retract), push it into the float detent, and then let it return to the neutral position.

  7. Save the calibration.

The controller will record the potentiometer/sensor voltages at these extremes. Save the calibration and exit the diagnostic menu.

  8. Cycle the key and verify repair.

Cycle the key. If the code clears and the remote operates normally, the repair is complete. If the code returns or the calibration fails, the lever's internal sensor has failed and the lever assembly must be replaced.
