EHR 4348

New Holland EHR 4348 – EHR (Electronic Hitch Regulation / Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Controller: EHR 7 Offline Err

Issue description

Communication failure where the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve number 7 has gone offline. The tractor's control network (CAN bus) has lost the signal from the #7 remote valve actuator (powerhead), meaning the valve cannot be controlled electronically.

Applies to these machines

  • T8.xxx Series
  • T9 Series
  • T7 Series
  • TG Series
  • Magnum 235-340 (Series 4)
  • Steiger
  • Maxxum
  • Puma

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the system voltage is adequate and check the fuse panel for any blown fuses supplying the remote valve block.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the #7 remote valve for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.

  3. Perform the 'Swap' Test: Swap the electrical connector from the #7 remote valve powerhead with an adjacent, known-good remote valve (such as #6 or #8). If the fault code changes to the new valve's position, the #7 valve actuator is internally failed. If the fault code remains EHR 4348, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the EHR controller.

  4. Attempt to perform a remote lever calibration via the in-cab monitor to see if the controller can re-establish communication with the valve.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent CAN bus voltage spikes.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector from the #7 remote valve actuator.

  4. Remove Actuator

Unbolt the faulty electro-hydraulic actuator (powerhead) from the main hydraulic valve slice.

  5. Install New Part

Mount the replacement actuator, ensuring all O-rings are properly seated, and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical harness back into the new actuator and reconnect the battery.

  7. Calibrate

Perform a remote valve calibration procedure through the tractor's armrest display (or via the New Holland Electronic Service Tool / EST) so the controller can learn the neutral, extend, and retract spool positions of the new valve.
