New Holland EHR 4349 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) system: EHR 8 Offline Err

The Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve number 8 has lost communication with the tractor's CAN bus network. The main controller can no longer detect or communicate with the processor on valve #8.

   Check Power and Ground: Verify that the #8 remote valve is receiving a steady 12V power supply and has a solid ground at its electrical connector.

   Inspect CAN Bus Wiring: Check the wiring harness leading to the #8 valve for open circuits, shorts, or broken solder joints.

   Check CAN Terminators: Inspect the CAN bus terminators. Check for broken solder joints on active terminators (older models) or inspect the resistor plug (newer models).

   Perform Swap Test: Swap the electrical connection of the #8 remote valve with another known-good remote valve (e.g., valve #7). If the fault code changes to 'EHR 7 Offline Err', the valve's internal processor has failed. If the fault remains 'EHR 8 Offline Err', the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or CAN bus.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery before servicing the hydraulic electrical systems.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or a failed CAN terminator, repair the harness or replace the terminator plug.

   Replace the Valve

   If the valve's internal processor has failed, relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system. Disconnect the hydraulic lines and remove the mounting bolts to extract the #8 EHR valve section from the remote stack. Install the new replacement EHR valve and torque the stack bolts to OEM specifications.

   Program the New Valve

   Connect the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (CNH EST) laptop to the tractor. Access the EHR module settings and program the new valve's processor to identify itself as Valve #8 within the remote stack.

   Calibrate and Test

   Clear the stored fault codes using the diagnostic tool and perform a hydraulic remote calibration to ensure the spool travel limits are learned.
