EHR 4350

New Holland EHR 4350 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.6 - Valve Spool Not Calibrated

Issue description

The system's controller has not learned the physical end-of-stroke (extend/retract) and neutral positions of the spool inside the 6th rear remote valve. Without this calibration data, the electro-hydraulic system cannot accurately control the flow of hydraulic oil to that specific remote, and the valve may be disabled or operate erratically.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T8 Series (e.g., T8.xxx)
  • New Holland T9 Series (e.g., T9.390, T9.450, T9.505, T9.560, T9.615)
  • New Holland T6000 Series (e.g., T6030, T6080)
  • New Holland T7000 Series (e.g., T7030, T7040, T7050, T7060)

Check the cause

  1. Stroke the No. 6 valve back and forth manually using the cab controls to clear any internal debris or sticking points.

  2. Ensure the tractor's hydraulic oil is up to normal operating temperature (cold oil can cause the spool to move too slowly, causing a calibration timeout).

  3. Verify the correct CAN address has been assigned to the remote valve stack, especially if a valve was recently replaced or renumbered.

  4. Ensure absolutely no implements or hydraulic hoses are connected to the rear remote couplers, as backpressure will cause the calibration to fail.

Repair steps

  1. Park the tractor

Park the tractor on a level surface away from obstacles. Firmly apply the parking brake and block the wheels.

  2. Verify ground speed

Verify that the ground speed display reads exactly zero.

  3. Disconnect implements

Disconnect all implements from the rear remotes.

  4. Ensure switches are OFF

Ensure all EHR program switches and remote levers are in the OFF or neutral position.

  5. Access calibration menu

Access the calibration menu. Depending on the tractor's display: Standard Instrument Cluster: Use the 'h', 'm', and 'dimming' keys to navigate the HH menus to 'H1' and find the rear EHR symbol. The lower central display should show 'CAL'. IntelliView Display: Press the Operations Screen button on the armrest, navigate to 'EHR Remotes', select the No. 6 rear valve, and follow the on-screen prompts to initiate calibration.

  6. Trigger calibration

Trigger the calibration for Remote No. 6. The system will automatically stroke the valve spool to learn the neutral, extend, and retract parameters.

  7. Retry calibration if failed

If the calibration fails the first time, stroke the valve back and forth a few more times to clear it, and attempt the calibration again.

  8. Replace valve slice

If the valve repeatedly fails to calibrate (or throws secondary codes like 'spool travel short' or 'transducer faulty'), the internal position transducer or the spool itself is defective, and the valve slice must be replaced.
