New Holland EHR 4352 – EHR (Electronic Hitch / Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear Remote No.8 - Valve Spool Not Calibrated
Issue description
The electronic controller for the 8th rear remote hydraulic valve has not successfully completed its calibration routine, or its calibration data has been lost. The system requires calibration to learn the exact neutral, extend, and retract positions of the valve spool to ensure precise hydraulic flow control.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- New Holland T8 Series
- New Holland T9 Series
Check the cause
Check for other codes: Ensure there are no underlying voltage or CAN-bus communication error codes (e.g., 'No communications from EHR No.8') which would prevent calibration.
Verify CAN Address: If the valve was recently replaced, verify that the correct address (Valve No. 8) has been assigned to it. New valves come unprogrammed.
Clear Debris: Stroke the valve back and forth fully using the cab controls to clear any internal debris and verify mechanical movement.
Fluid Check: Ensure the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and has reached normal operating temperature.
Disconnect Implements: Never attempt to calibrate a remote valve with an implement connected to the couplers.
Repair steps
Prepare tractor
Park the tractor on a level surface, apply the parking brake, block the wheels, and ensure ground speed is zero.
Disconnect implements
Disconnect all implements from the rear remote couplers.
Insert diagnostic tool
Depending on the tractor series, insert the specific diagnostic connector tool (e.g., special tool 380001903 for T9 series or 380000843 for T6/T7 series) into the tractor's diagnostic socket to enable calibration mode.
Access display
Access the tractor's display (e.g., IntelliView monitor or the instrument cluster HH menu).
Navigate to menu
Navigate to the EHR Remotes or Hydraulic Calibration menu.
Initiate calibration
Select the rear remote valve No. 8 and initiate the calibration sequence.
Follow prompts
Follow the on-screen prompts. The system will automatically stroke the valve to learn its parameters.
Retry calibration if failed
If calibration fails the first time: Do not immediately replace the valve. Stroke the valve back and forth manually for a while to flush it, then attempt the calibration again.
Replace valve
If the valve repeatedly fails to calibrate or throws internal hardware faults, the EHR valve slice must be replaced.
