New Holland EHR 4355 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) controller: EHR FB 3 High Err
Issue description
The feedback signal voltage from the position sensor (potentiometer) on the #3 rear remote valve is too high. The system is detecting that the circuit is likely shorted to a high voltage source.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- New Holland 8670
- New Holland T8 series
- New Holland T9 series
Check the cause
Locate the #3 rear remote valve at the back of the tractor.
Visually inspect the wiring harness running to the #3 remote valve for any rubbed, pinched, or exposed wires that could be causing a short to a power source.
Disconnect the sensor/potentiometer on the #3 spool valve and use a multimeter to check the feedback circuit voltage.
Verify if the issue is isolated to the sensor itself or the wiring harness by checking for continuity and proper voltage supply (typically 5V).
Repair steps
Depressurize hydraulic system
Power down the tractor and ensure the hydraulic system is depressurized.
Identify remote valve
Access the rear remote valve stack and identify the #3 remote valve.
Trace wiring harness
Trace the wiring harness from the EHR controller to the #3 remote valve.
Repair or replace wiring harness
If the wiring harness is damaged, pinched, or shorted to a high voltage source, repair the damaged section of the wire or replace the harness.
Remove faulty sensor
If the wiring tests good, the fault is likely an internal short within the remote valve's position sensor/potentiometer. Remove the faulty sensor from the spool valve.
Install new sensor
Install the new position sensor/potentiometer and reconnect the wiring harness.
Test and calibrate
Power on the tractor, clear the fault codes, and operate the #3 remote valve to verify that the "EHR FB 3 High Err" code does not return and the valve functions correctly. (Note: Some CAN-based EHR valves may require a calibration procedure via the tractor's display after replacing electrical components).
