New Holland EHR 4357 – EHR (Electronic Hitch Regulation): EHR Implement Lower Error
Issue description
This code indicates that the implement's lower delta depth is greater than 10% for more than 25 seconds. Essentially, the tractor's control unit is commanding the 3-point hitch to lower, but the position sensor (potentiometer) is not detecting the expected downward movement within the allowed timeframe.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- New Holland T6 Series
- New Holland T7 Series
- New Holland T8 Series
- New Holland T9 Series
Check the cause
Check the Tractor Control Unit (TCU) connectors (C066 and C063) and the implement interface/potentiometer connector (C686) to ensure they are securely connected, undamaged, and pins are tight.
Inspect the mechanical linkage connecting the 3-point hitch to the implement potentiometer to verify it is not bent, damaged, or out of adjustment.
Disconnect connector C063 from the TCU and C686 from the implement potentiometer, then check for continuity between C063 pin 31 and C686 pin 4 (Open Circuit Test).
Check for a short to ground between connector C686 pin 4 and the chassis ground.
Check for a short to B+ power at the implement interface potentiometer connector.
Repair steps
Resolve Wiring Issues
If your multimeter tests reveal an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power, repair or replace the affected section of the wiring harness.
Adjust Linkage
If the mechanical linkage is out of adjustment, recalibrate and adjust the linkage so the sensor accurately sweeps through its range of motion as the hitch raises and lowers.
Software Update
If the wiring harness and mechanical linkages are perfectly fine, OEM manuals recommend downloading/flashing the correct and most up-to-date level of software to the control unit.
Replace the Sensor
If the fault re-occurs after verifying the wiring, adjusting the linkage, and updating the software, the implement interface (potentiometer/position sensor) has internally failed and must be replaced.
Recalibrate
After replacing the sensor, you must run the hitch calibration procedure via the tractor's display monitor so the EHR module learns the new sensor's upper and lower voltage limits.
