   Perform a CAN Bus Resistance Test: With the battery disconnected, measure the resistance between the CAN High and CAN Low wires. A healthy bus reads 60 ohms; 120 ohms indicates a missing/broken terminating resistor or an open circuit.

   Verify Power and Ground: Ensure the Engine Controller (EDC7) is receiving proper unswitched battery power, switched ignition power, and a solid ground.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness connecting the Engine Controller to the Instrument Cluster/VCM for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes during testing.

   Inspect Connectors

   Locate the Bosch EDC7 Engine Controller (usually mounted on or near the engine) and the Instrument Cluster/VCM. Disconnect the harness connectors and inspect the pins for water intrusion, corrosion, or backed-out terminals.

   If the resistance test yielded 120 ohms or an open circuit (OL), trace the CAN bus wiring harness to locate the physical break or the faulty terminating resistor.

   Repair/Replace Wiring

   Repair any broken wires using proper soldering and heat-shrink techniques, or replace the damaged section of the CAN-Bus wire harness. If a connector is heavily corroded, splice in a new pigtail connector.

   Test the ECU

   If the wiring harness, terminating resistors, and power/ground supplies all test perfectly, the Engine Controller (EDC7) itself has likely suffered an internal failure and is no longer broadcasting data. The ECU will need to be replaced and programmed/cloned to match the machine.

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use a diagnostic scan tool (like the New Holland EST) to clear the inactive 1058 fault code. Run the machine to verify the code does not return.
