New Holland ENG 133 – ENGINE: Decelerator (STD cab) Position potentiometer voltage is too high.
Issue description
The Engine Control Module is receiving a voltage signal from the decelerator (foot/hand throttle) position sensor that exceeds the maximum expected threshold. In electronic control systems, a "voltage too high" condition typically points to an open ground circuit (which causes the signal to pull high to the reference voltage), a short to power on the signal wire, or an internal failure (open circuit) within the potentiometer itself.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the decelerator/throttle potentiometer for physical damage, corrosion, or loose/pushed-out pins.
Test the ground wire at the potentiometer connector (an open ground is the most common cause of a voltage too high code).
Check the signal wire to ensure it is not shorted to the 5V reference wire or a 12V power source.
Measure the resistance across the potentiometer as you sweep the decelerator pedal/lever. If the resistance drops out, spikes to infinity (open), or does not match the specified rating, the sensor is faulty.
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Ensure the machine is fully powered down before beginning electrical work.
Locate the decelerator/hand throttle assembly inside the cab.
Identify the position potentiometer attached to the assembly.
Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the position potentiometer.
Carefully unplug the sensor.
Remove the mounting screws or retaining clip holding the potentiometer to the decelerator linkage/pedal assembly.
Detach the faulty sensor from the mechanical linkage.
Install the new potentiometer, ensuring the mechanical linkage aligns correctly with the sensor's sweep range.
Proper alignment is critical for accurate voltage readings across the pedal's range of motion.
Secure the mounting hardware and reconnect the electrical harness.
Fasten the screws or clips and plug the connector back in.
Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use a diagnostic tool (or the tractor's onboard display) to clear the ENG 133 fault code.
Clear the historical fault data from the Engine ECU.
Test the decelerator pedal/hand throttle through its full range of motion to verify the code does not return and the engine responds correctly.
Confirm the repair by sweeping the pedal and monitoring engine response.
