   Visually inspect the coolant level in the recovery/shunt tank when the engine is cold to ensure it is above the minimum line.

   Inspect the radiator, water pump, hoses, and engine block for visible signs of coolant loss.

   Turn the key switch to the 'OFF' position and disconnect the coolant level sensor jumper harness.

   Inspect the coolant level sensor and the jumper harness connector pins for bent, broken, pushed back, expanded, or corroded pins. Check for moisture inside the connector.

   Test the wiring harness between the sensor and the Engine Controller for open circuits or shorts to ground.

   Top Up Fluid

   If the coolant is genuinely low, remove the recovery tank cap (only when the engine is cold) and add approved coolant fluid until it reaches the proper level.

   Repair Leaks

   If a leak was found during the visual inspection, repair or replace the leaking hose, clamp, or radiator component.

   Clean Connections

   If the fluid level is fine, clean the coolant level sensor connector with electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease to prevent moisture intrusion. Reconnect and test.

   Replace Sensor

   If the wiring and pins are in good condition but the sensor fails to read the correct fluid level, the sensor has failed internally. Drain a small amount of coolant to drop the level below the sensor port, unscrew the faulty sensor, and install a new one.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the harness, turn the key on, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the inactive fault codes. Run the engine to verify the code does not return.
