New Holland ENG 3015 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC: Fuel Temperature Signal - Signal Above Range Max
Issue description
This code indicates that the voltage signal returning from the fuel temperature sensor to the control module has exceeded the maximum allowable threshold. This usually points to a short circuit to battery power (B+), an open circuit in the sensor wiring, or a completely failed internal thermistor inside the sensor. When active, the engine control unit cannot accurately calculate fuel density, which may result in incorrect fuel injection quantities and the activation of a yellow warning lamp.

Check the cause
Scan and Monitor: Connect a diagnostic tool to the diagnostic port. Turn the ignition ON (engine off) and monitor the live data for the fuel temperature sensor. If it reads an impossibly high value (or default max voltage), the circuit is compromised.
Visual Inspection: Locate the fuel temperature sensor (typically positioned on the primary fuel system manifold lines or near the high-pressure pump). Inspect the 2-pin sealed oval connector for corrosion, moisture ingress, or backed-out pins.
Wiring Test: Disconnect the sensor. Check the signal wire and ground wire for continuity back to the EDC control unit. Test the signal wire for a short circuit to external power (B+) or a short to ground.
Sensor Resistance Test: If the wiring harness tests good, the fault is internal to the sensor.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the machine's ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.
Removal
Disconnect the 2-pin electrical connector from the fuel temperature sensor.
Extraction
Using a 19mm spanner or deep socket, carefully unscrew the sensor from the fuel manifold/line. Have a rag ready to catch any residual fuel that may leak from the port.
Installation
Thread the new sensor (M14 x 1.5 metric thread) into the port by hand to prevent cross-threading.
Torque
Tighten the sensor to the OEM specification. (For example, the T6.160 service manual specifies 20 ± 3 Nm / 14.75 ± 2.2 lb-ft for the fuel temperature sensor fastener).
Reassembly
Reconnect the 2-pin wiring harness until it clicks securely. Reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes
Connect the diagnostic tool, clear the ENG 3015 fault code, and run the engine to verify that the code does not return and live temperature readings are accurate.
