New Holland ENG 3029 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Oil Pressure Sensor – Short circuit to Battery
Issue description
This fault code indicates that the control module is receiving a signal voltage from the engine oil pressure sensor that is above the maximum valid range. Technically, this is caused by either a direct short to a 12V power source (battery) on the sensor's signal wire, an open circuit on the sensor's ground/return wire (which causes the signal voltage to float high), or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Locate the engine oil pressure sensor on the engine block. Disconnect the pigtail/connector and check for oil intrusion, corrosion, moisture, or bent pins inside the connector.
Harness Ground Test: Using a multimeter, check the sensor's ground/return wire for continuity back to the ECU ground. An open ground is a highly common cause for a 'Short to Battery / Source High' code.
Harness Short Test: With the key ON (engine OFF) and the sensor disconnected, probe the signal wire. If it reads a full 12V (battery voltage), the wiring harness has rubbed through and is shorting against a power wire.
Sensor Test: If the wiring harness tests perfectly (good ground, 5V reference present if applicable, and no voltage on the signal wire when disconnected), the sensor has failed internally and must be replaced.
