New Holland ENG 3031 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Vehicle Control Module (VCM): Oil Pressure Sensor - Hardware Error
Issue description
The engine control system has detected a physical hardware malfunction or an implausible signal coming from the engine oil pressure sensor.
Applies to these machines
11 machines- T5

- FR Series
Check the cause
Verify Actual Pressure: Connect a mechanical oil pressure gauge to the engine block to verify that the engine is actually producing the correct oil pressure and that the issue is strictly sensor-related.
Inspect the Wiring Harness: Check the wiring leading to the oil pressure sensor for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation.
Check the Connector: Disconnect the sensor and inspect the electrical pins for moisture, oil intrusion, or corrosion, which can cause false readings.
Check for Port Blockage: Ensure the oil port on the engine block or filter housing isn't clogged with sludge or excessive thread sealant.
Repair steps
Locate the Sensor
Find the engine oil pressure sensor, which is typically threaded directly into the engine block or the oil filter housing assembly.
Disconnect
Carefully unplug the weather-sealed electrical connector from the sensor.
Remove
Using the appropriately sized deep socket or wrench, unthread the faulty sensor from the engine block. Have a rag ready to catch any residual oil.
Prepare the New Sensor
If the new sensor does not have pre-applied thread locker, apply a small amount of oil-safe thread sealant to the threads. Caution: Do not apply too much, as excess sealant can block the sensor's pressure port.
Install
Thread the new sensor into the port by hand to prevent cross-threading, then tighten it to the manufacturer's torque specification.
Reconnect & Clear
Plug the electrical connector back in until it clicks. Use a diagnostic tool or DTC eraser to clear the ENG 3031 code from the ECM memory.
Test
Start the engine and verify that the oil pressure warning light goes out and the fault code does not return.
