New Holland ENG 3037 – Engine Control Unit (ECU / ECM / Engine Controller): Boost Pressure sensor: Out of Voltage - Low

Issue description

The voltage signal returning from the boost pressure sensor to the controller has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold. This typically indicates a short circuit to ground, a disconnected/broken wire in the harness, or a completely failed sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the sensor connector and wiring harness for physical damage, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

  2. Disconnect the sensor and turn the key to the ON position to verify that the ECU is sending the correct reference voltage (typically 5V) to the sensor.

  3. Test the signal wire between the sensor connector and the Engine ECU for a short to ground or an open circuit.

  4. If the wiring harness is intact and the reference voltage is present, the sensor itself has likely failed internally and is pulling the signal voltage low.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

    Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Locate the Sensor

    Locate the Boost Pressure Sensor (MAP sensor), which is mounted directly on the engine's intake manifold.

  3. Disconnect and Remove

    Unplug the 4-pin electrical connector. Remove the retaining bolt(s) holding the sensor to the manifold and pull the sensor out.

  4. Install New Sensor

    Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor slightly to prevent tearing. Push the new sensor into the intake manifold port and secure it with the retaining bolt.

  5. Reconnect

    Plug the 4-pin electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks and locks into place.

  6. Clear Codes

    Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use a New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the inactive ENG 3037 fault code, or run the machine to see if the ECU self-clears the code upon detecting the correct voltage.
