New Holland ENG 3064 – Engine Control Module (Engine ECU / EDC): Cylinder 5 - Unclassifiable Error in Injector

The control module has detected an implausible signal or an unclassifiable electrical error from the fuel injector solenoid on Cylinder 5. This indicates a malfunction in the injector's electrical circuit.

   Inspect the injector cable running from the Engine ECU to the Cylinder 5 injector for chafing, corrosion, or loose connector pins that could cause an intermittent or implausible signal.

   Verify that the wiring is not shorting to the low side (battery) or high side (ground), as the ECU may struggle to classify borderline resistance issues.

   Test the internal solenoid of the Cylinder 5 fuel injector, as a failure here will send an implausible electrical signature to the ECU.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the battery to protect the Engine ECU.

   Locate injector

   Gain access to the engine valve cover or fuel rail to locate the Cylinder 5 fuel injector.

   Test harness

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the Cylinder 5 injector and perform a final pin-out test to rule out harness damage.

   Remove components

   If the harness is intact, remove the high-pressure fuel lines and the injector hold-down clamp.

   Extract injector

   Extract the faulty Cylinder 5 common rail fuel injector.

   Install replacement

   Install the replacement injector (ensure new O-rings and chamber gaskets/copper washers are used).

   Reassemble

   Reassemble the fuel lines and reconnect the electrical harness.

   Clear code and test

   Clear the ENG 3064 fault code from the Engine ECU using a diagnostic tool and test run the machine.
