New Holland ENG 3067 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Cylinder5 - Injector Cable Short circuit (High Side to Ground)
Issue description
The engine control module has detected a short circuit to ground on the high-voltage supply side of the wiring circuit for the cylinder 5 fuel injector. When this fault is active, the system will shut down the cylinder 5 injector to protect the circuit, resulting in a noticeable engine misfire and loss of power.

Check the cause
Verify the misfire: Confirm the engine is misfiring on cylinder 5, as the ECU will intentionally disable this injector.
Visual wiring inspection: Inspect the engine wiring harness running from the Engine ECU to the cylinder 5 injector for chafing, melted insulation, or pinched wires grounding against the block or valve cover.
Continuity/Resistance testing: Disconnect the wiring harness at the ECU and cylinder 5 injector. Use a multimeter to test the high-side wire of the injector circuit for continuity to ground. Continuity indicates a shorted harness.
Injector solenoid testing: If the wiring harness tests good, check the resistance across the injector pins and test for an internal short from the injector pins to the injector body/ground.
Oscilloscope testing (Optional): Use a tool like a PicoScope with a current clamp to monitor the injector circuit for induced noise from companion cylinders.
Repair steps
Disconnect power
Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical damage.
Access components
Remove any engine covers or cowlings necessary to access the engine ECU and the fuel rail/injectors.
Address wiring issues
If diagnostic checks revealed a short to ground in the wiring harness, repair the damaged section of the wire using proper soldering and heat-shrink techniques, or replace the engine wiring harness entirely if the damage is extensive.
Replace the injector
If the wiring harness is intact and the short is internal to the injector: Clean the area around the cylinder 5 injector. Remove the high-pressure fuel line and the hold-down clamp. Extract the faulty injector and install the new one with new O-rings and copper sealing washers. Torque the hold-down clamp and fuel lines to OEM specifications.
Reassemble and clear codes
Reconnect all electrical connectors and the battery. Use a diagnostic scan tool or DTC eraser to clear the ENG 3067 fault code from the Engine ECU.
Test run
Start the engine, check for fuel leaks, and verify that the misfire is gone and the fault code does not return.
