New Holland ENG 3072 – Engine ECU: Cylinder6 - Unclassifiable Error in Injector / Injector solenoid valve Cylinder 6 - NOT PLAUSIBLE
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit is receiving an erratic, implausible, or missing electrical signal from the fuel injector solenoid on cylinder number 6. This condition typically results in a cylinder misfire, rough engine running, loss of power, and excessive exhaust smoke.

Check the cause
Inspect the injector cable for cylinder 6 to rule out a short circuit (low side to battery or high side to ground) or an open circuit in the harness leading to the injector
Check for contaminated diesel (water or debris), which can cause the internal mechanical components of the injector to bind and throw an electrical plausibility error
Read rail pressure fault codes and monitor sensor communication stability to ensure the high-pressure fuel pump (CP3) is maintaining commanded rail pressure
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the machine's battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Remove covers
Remove the necessary engine covers and the valve cover to access the fuel injectors.
Disconnect electrical connector
Disconnect the electrical connector from the cylinder 6 injector.
Remove high-pressure fuel line
Carefully loosen and remove the high-pressure fuel line connected to the injector. Cap the rail fitting to prevent contamination.
Remove injector
Remove the injector hold-down clamp and extract the faulty injector from the cylinder head.
Clean injector bore
Thoroughly clean the injector bore.
Install new injector
Install the new injector using new sealing rings/O-rings.
Reinstall components
Reinstall the hold-down clamp, reconnect the high-pressure fuel line, and plug in the electrical connector.
Reassemble covers
Reassemble the valve cover and engine covers.
Perform Injector Reset
Connect a compatible diagnostic tool (such as the CNH Electronic Service Tool or Jaltest AGV) to the machine. You must perform an 'Injector Reset' or 'Injector Adjustment Programming' to program the new injector's specific calibration/trim codes into the ECU.
