Issue description
The engine controller is monitoring the baseline voltage (offset) of the common rail fuel pressure sensor (typically when the engine is off and actual fuel pressure is zero). The code triggers because the sensor's signal voltage has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold, indicating a sensor drift, an open circuit, or a short to ground.

Check the cause
Check the wiring harness between the Engine ECM and the fuel rail pressure sensor for any short circuits to ground or open circuits.
Inspect the sensor's electrical connector for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.
Use a multimeter to verify the sensor's supply voltage and signal output to ensure it is functioning properly and not shorting to an external source.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
Inspect Wiring
Locate the fuel rail pressure sensor on the high-pressure common fuel rail. Disconnect the harness and perform the diagnostic checks listed above. Repair any damaged wiring if found.
Remove Sensor
If the wiring is intact, the sensor itself is defective. Clean the area around the sensor to prevent debris from entering the fuel rail, then carefully unscrew and remove the faulty rail pressure sensor.
Install New Sensor
Thread the new OEM rail pressure sensor into the common rail and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Reconnect
Reconnect the electrical harness to the new sensor and reconnect the battery.
Clear and Test
Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the ENG 3111 fault code from the ECM. Start the engine and verify that the code does not return and that the engine runs smoothly.
