New Holland ENG 3117 – Engine Control Module (ECM / ECU): PTO Twist Sensor - Out of Range
Issue description
The signal voltage returning from the sensor to the controller is outside the expected operating parameters, indicating a likely sensor failure, wiring issue, or mechanical driveline problem.
Applies to these machines
9 machines- New Holland T7 Series

Check the cause
Inspect the PTO twist sensor and its wiring harness (connector X-300 or X-1199) for physical damage, rubbing, or debris.
Unplug the 3-pin connector and check for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-back pins.
Test the sensor supply voltage and ground. Look for an open circuit or a short to ground.
Determine if the sensor has simply lost its calibration parameters. Attempt a recalibration before replacing hard parts.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent shorting during replacement.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the PTO twist/torque sensor on the rear PTO driveline housing.
Removal
Disconnect the 3-pin electrical connector. Remove the retaining screw(s) (typically an M8 hex socket screw) and pull the faulty sensor from the housing.
Installation
Insert the new OEM PTO twist sensor. Install and tighten the retaining hardware. Reconnect the 3-pin electrical harness.
Calibration
A new sensor must be calibrated to the tractor's Central Control Unit (CCU). Enter the tractor's H8 calibration menu, navigate until the display shows 'Pt' (Power Take-Off twist calibration), press and hold the downshift button to calibrate, and release the button once the display successfully alternates between 'Pt' and the new calibration value.
