New Holland ENG 3121 – Engine Controller (ENG): PTO Torque sensor open circuit

The control module has detected a break in the electrical circuit to the PTO torque/twist sensor, meaning it is not receiving a continuous signal.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the PTO torque sensor for severed wires, chafing, or disconnected plugs

   Check the sensor and harness connectors for pushed-out pins, moisture, or corrosion that could interrupt the circuit

   Verify that the sensor is physically intact and correctly installed, as physical damage to the sensor body can sever internal connections

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the PTO torque/twist sensor, which mounts to the PTO/transmission housing.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Disconnect the wiring harness and unthread the sensor from the housing. Be prepared for minor fluid loss depending on the fluid level in the housing.

   Install the New Sensor

   Thread the new PTO twist sensor into the housing. It is highly recommended to use a new copper sealing washer during installation to prevent leaks.

   Reconnect Wiring

   Plug the wiring harness back into the sensor, ensuring the weather-sealed connector clicks securely into place.

   Calibrate the Sensor

   After replacing the sensor, you must perform a "P.T.O. Torque Sensor Calibration" via the tractor's diagnostic display/H1 menu screen.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the stored ENG 3121 error code from the system and test PTO engagement.
