New Holland ENG 3127 – Engine Controller (ENG) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Hand Throttle - Channel 1 Signal Below Range Min
Issue description
The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the primary channel (Channel 1) of the hand throttle potentiometer that has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold. This points to an open circuit, a short to ground in the sensor's signal wire, or a complete internal failure of the potentiometer's resistance track.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading from the hand throttle lever inside the armrest/side console to the main cab harness for chafing, pinched wires, or broken insulation.
Disconnect the hand throttle potentiometer and inspect the 3-terminal connector for pushed-back pins, corrosion, or moisture.
Using a multimeter, verify that the potentiometer is receiving the correct 5V reference voltage and has a solid ground. Check the signal wire for continuity back to the ECU/ADIC and ensure it is not shorted to ground.
Perform a sweep test: measure the resistance of the potentiometer while slowly moving the hand throttle lever. The resistance should change smoothly and linearly; if the reading drops out to zero or shows dead spots, the potentiometer has failed.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Sensor
Remove the trim panels on the right-hand control armrest or side console to expose the hand throttle linkage and potentiometer assembly.
Disconnect
Unplug the 3-terminal electrical connector from the hand throttle potentiometer.
Remove
Unscrew or unpin the faulty potentiometer from the throttle lever assembly.
Install
Mount the new potentiometer into the assembly, ensuring the mechanical linkage aligns correctly with the sensor's rotational slot.
Reassemble
Plug in the electrical connector and reinstall the armrest trim panels.
Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the tractor's diagnostic menu or a dealer service tool to clear the ENG 3127 fault code. Depending on the model, you may need to perform a hand throttle calibration routine so the ECU learns the new minimum (idle) and maximum (full throttle) voltage values.
