New Holland ENG 3142 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / EDC: High Pressure Test - Test Active
Issue description
This is an informational status code indicating that the engine's electronic control system is currently running a diagnostic high-pressure test on the common rail fuel system, or that the code was logged in the memory during a previous diagnostic session when a technician manually initiated the test.
Applies to these machines
13 machines- T6
- T7
- T7.220
- T7.235
- T7.250
- T8
- T9
- CR Series
- CR8090

Check the cause
Verify EST Connection: Check if the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop is currently connected to the machine and actively commanding the high-pressure fuel test.
Check Code Status: Determine if the code is 'Active' or 'Stored/Inactive'. If it is stored, it is simply a historical record that the test was run.
Scan for Accompanying Codes: Look for other active fuel system fault codes (such as rail pressure too low, metering unit faults, or fuel leaks).
Repair steps
Manage diagnostic test
If a diagnostic test is currently running via the CNH EST, allow the test to finish or manually abort the test in the software.
Disconnect diagnostic tool
Disconnect the diagnostic tool (if applicable).
Turn ignition OFF
Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
Wait for ECM power down
Wait for the ECM to fully power down. You must wait for the main ECM relay to click off (this typically takes 30 to 60 seconds after the key is turned off).
Turn ignition ON
Turn the ignition key back to the ON position.
Clear fault codes
Reconnect the CNH EST, navigate to the Engine Control Module (EDC), and clear the inactive/stored fault codes.
Verify code resolution
Start the engine and verify that code 3142 does not return. It will only return if the high-pressure test is manually initiated again.
