New Holland ENG 3191 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Bosch EDC7: Cylinder2Warning - Application Dependent
Issue description
The engine's control system has detected an abnormal operating condition or electrical anomaly specifically on the fuel injector circuit for Cylinder 2. The exact parameters triggering this warning are based on the specific engine calibration for that particular machine.
Applies to these machines

Check the cause
Use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check for companion codes (like 3192 or 3193) to confirm if there is a hard electrical fault in the circuit.
Inspect the wiring harness between the EDC7 ECM and the Cylinder 2 injector for chafed wires, melted insulation, or loose connections.
Disconnect the Cylinder 2 injector and check the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage.
Measure the electrical resistance of the Cylinder 2 injector solenoid with a multimeter to ensure it is within OEM specifications.
Perform a cylinder cutout test via the diagnostic tool to verify if Cylinder 2 is contributing to engine power.
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the machine's battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Repair wiring harness
If the wiring harness is damaged, repair the damaged section or replace the injector pigtail connector.
Clean injector area
If the injector has failed, thoroughly clean the area around the Cylinder 2 injector to prevent dirt from entering the engine.
Remove high-pressure fuel line
Use two wrenches to carefully disconnect and remove the high-pressure fuel line connected to the Cylinder 2 injector. (Note: Common rail high-pressure lines are typically single-use and must be replaced, not reused).
Remove injector
Remove the injector hold-down clamp and extract the faulty injector.
Clean injector bore
Clean the injector bore in the cylinder head.
Install new injector
Install the new injector with a new copper sealing washer and O-ring. Torque the hold-down bolt to OEM specifications.
Install new fuel line
Install a new high-pressure fuel line between the fuel rail and the injector.
Reconnect electrical harness
Reconnect the electrical harness to the injector.
Clear fault code
Reconnect the battery, prime/bleed the fuel system, and use the CNH EST to clear the ENG 3191 fault code.
Verify repair
Run the engine to verify the misfire is gone and the code does not return.
