New Holland ENG 3193 – Engine ECU: Cylinder2 Warning - Current Level Error
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected that the electrical current flowing through the Cylinder 2 fuel injector solenoid is outside the expected parameters (either too high or too low) during the injection event. This typically indicates an open circuit, a short circuit, high resistance in the wiring harness, or an internal failure of the injector solenoid itself.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Engine ECU and the Cylinder 2 fuel injector for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins.
Resistance Testing: Measure the resistance of the Cylinder 2 injector solenoid using a multimeter. Compare it to OEM specifications (common rail injectors typically have very low resistance).
Continuity/Short Testing: Check the injector wiring harness for continuity and ensure there is no short-to-ground or short-to-power.
Injector Swap Test: Swap the Cylinder 2 injector with another cylinder (e.g., Cylinder 1). Clear the codes and run the engine. If the fault code changes to the new cylinder (e.g., ENG 3189 for Cylinder 1), the injector is faulty. If the code remains ENG 3193 for Cylinder 2, the issue is in the wiring harness or the ECU.
Repair steps
Disconnect the battery power
Disconnect the battery power to ensure safety and prevent electrical spikes.
Remove the engine valve cover
Remove the engine valve cover (if the injectors are located under the cover) or access the injector directly if externally mounted.
Disconnect the electrical connector
Disconnect the electrical connector to the Cylinder 2 fuel injector.
Repair or replace the injector wiring harness/pigtail
If the diagnostic checks pointed to a wiring issue, repair or replace the injector wiring harness/pigtail.
Clean the area around the injector
If the injector is faulty, clean the area around the injector to prevent debris from entering the cylinder.
Remove the high-pressure fuel line
Remove the high-pressure fuel line connected to the injector. Cap the rail and line fittings to prevent contamination.
Remove the injector hold-down clamp
Remove the injector hold-down clamp and carefully extract the injector from the cylinder head.
Install the new fuel injector
Install the new fuel injector, ensuring you use a new copper sealing washer and new O-rings.
Reinstall the hold-down clamp
Reinstall the hold-down clamp and torque it to OEM specifications.
Reconnect the high-pressure fuel line
Reconnect the high-pressure fuel line and torque to spec.
Reconnect the electrical connector
Reconnect the electrical connector to the injector.
Reinstall the valve cover
Reinstall the valve cover (if applicable) with a new gasket.
Reconnect the battery
Reconnect the battery.
Enter the new injector's trim code
Crucial Step: Use a diagnostic tool (such as the CNH Electronic Service Tool - EST) to enter the new injector's trim code (IQA/IMA code) into the Engine ECU. This ensures proper fueling and engine performance.
Clear the fault codes and test run
Clear the fault codes, prime the fuel system, and test run the engine to verify the repair.
