ENG 3210

New Holland ENG 3210 – ENGINE: TWV1 Output Open Load Injector Coil Open

Issue description

The Engine Control Unit has detected an open circuit or a short circuit in the electrical circuit for the Bank 1 fuel injector(s). The ECU cannot communicate with or actuate the injector coil for Cylinder 1 (or Cylinder 3) because the circuit is broken, unplugged, or the internal coil of the injector has failed.

Applies to these machines

  • L218
  • L220
  • SR175
  • SV300
  • SV340
  • TR340
  • TV380
  • B90B
  • B100B
  • T5.100
  • T5.110
  • T5.120

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness leading from the Engine ECU to the Bank 1 fuel injectors for chafed wires, melted insulation, or disconnected plugs.

  2. Disconnect the harness at the injector and the ECU to check for pushed-back pins, corrosion, or moisture inside the connectors.

  3. Perform a coil resistance test using a multimeter across the pins of the affected injector. Infinite resistance indicates a broken internal coil. Compare readings to a known good injector on the engine.

  4. Perform a harness continuity test between the injector connector and the corresponding pin on the ECU harness to rule out wiring failure.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Disconnect the machine's battery to prevent electrical shorts and ensure the engine is cool. Clean the area around the injectors thoroughly to prevent debris from entering the engine.

  2. Access

Remove the engine covers and any components obstructing access to the fuel rail and injectors.

  3. Disconnection

Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty TWV injector.

  4. Fuel Lines

Carefully loosen and remove the high-pressure fuel line connecting the common rail to the injector. Cap the rail and line to prevent contamination.

  5. Removal

Unscrew the injector support fastening screws. Disassemble the injector hold-down supports/clamps and carefully pull the injector out of the cylinder head.

  6. Preparation for Install

Clean the injector bore in the cylinder head. Install new O-rings and the copper sealing washer on the new injector.

  7. Installation

Insert the new injector into the bore. Ensure that the fuel return holes are facing the correct direction as per the other injectors.

  8. Reassembly

Reinstall the injector supports and torque the fastening screws to OEM specifications. Reconnect the high-pressure fuel line and the electrical connector.

  9. Finalization

Reconnect the battery. Bleed the fuel system if required by your specific engine manual. Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the ENG 3210 fault code and run the engine to check for leaks and proper operation.
